This is Ramona, a Pasifika woman navigating the physical and emotional terrain of breast cancer treatment, uncertainty and recovery.

I had the privilege of meeting her and being trusted to paint her portrait.

Ramona and I collaborated on this painting. She had a strong hand in shaping how she would be represented.

Ramona also gave the painting its title:

O Le Malosi i Totonu - The Strength Within.

She wanted other women to know that:

They can survive.
