I’m a portrait artist committed to exploring new and expressive ways of storytelling. Working across paper collage and figurative painting, I use both mediums to engage with pressing social justice issues, while celebrating the strength and agency of my sitters and embracing the powerful perspective of the female gaze.

My work aims to spark meaningful conversations about representation and diversity in art, always with an emphasis on inclusivity. Guided by intuition, I build up layers of vibrant colour and thick oil paint on expansive canvases, allowing the creative process to shape the visual language.

Through the narration of personal stories, I aim to forge emotional connections and create work that empowers individuals and resonates on both a visual and emotional level.

My work lives at the intersection of intuition, identity, and storytelling. Through thick oil paint and fragments of found imagery, I explore strength, individuality, and the female gaze. Portraits become a space to honour presence, power, and connection.

  • What my customers say about me

I have followed Naomi’s art for some time and find it both beautiful and thought provoking. Not only are the pieces lovely to look at but there is always meaning to what she creates and to her creative process itself. I am excited to see where she goes from here.

  • What my customers say about me

I love that the whole collage is made from printed material of fine art — the repurposing of fragments of well known and iconic works, gives new meanings.

I attended the Intuitive Collage , and the class was fantastic. The instructor, Naomi Azoulay, was outstanding. Although she is a trained artist, she displayed a high level of skills in her teaching abilities.  She encouraged and stretched the students with praise and was able to convey information in an easy-to-follow and understandable manner. She was fun and inclusive while dealing with the needs of each individual student.

Simply put she led a remarkable class.

  • What my customers say about me

What a stunning intuitive collage workshop with Naomi Azoulay! She’s such a warm, friendly, generous, and insightful teacher. We spent the first hour harvesting images that spoke to us, only later seeing how they connected. My collage became an expression of humanity and our planet—grief, fear, vulnerability, determination… and a touch of humour: “Always bring a poem to a fistfight.” I’ll be back!

  • What my customers say about me

I completed a 4 hour workshop with Naomi recently and really enjoyed it. Naomi stretched me to work outside my comfort zone and in a totally different way to how I usually approach my art projects. It was intuitive and spontaneous! And so enjoyable!! Thanks for creating such an engaging session, Naomi. I look forward to doing another class with you.

  • What my customers say about me

Naomi is warm, fun, knowledgeable, super creative and unabashedly enthusiastic about collaging. I can see why.  Collaging is a unique art form that is therapeutic, meditative, lots of fun, easy to do, and can be social or not - depending on you.  I truly loved the workshop with Naomi and highly recommend it for anyone wanting to give collaging a go!

  • What my customers say about me

My workshop with Naomi was so much fun and I ended up creating a work of art when I thought I wasn't an artist at all! Naomi was a great teacher and her passion for collage definitely rubbed off. I certainly will do another workshop with her in future.

  • I have admired Naomi's art and wanted to do one of her workshops for ages. I got to spend a relaxed, creative, inspiring day making collage, chatting, laughing and drinking tea! Naomi is a wonderful tutor; she guides, inspires, encourages, challenges, and creates humour and lightness. Definitely my new recipe for self-care!
